Treatment of Pain and Injury

Maria T. Gentile, D.O.

Text Box: Promotion of total Health
through a Holistic approach
to medicine

Dr. Maria T. Gentile is an Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) Specialist.  She dedicated her latter years of study to this profession after osteopathic treatment helped her recover from a serious whiplash injury resulting from a motor vehicle accident in December 1992.  This event led her to truly appreciate the benefits and pain-relieving abilities of Osteopathy.

Dr. Gentile was born and raised in New York City where she completed a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Microbiology.  She worked for 10 years as a microbiologist, including 2 years as a supervisor and 3 years as a breast cancer researcher at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in NYC.  She finished her premedical study at Hunter College, NY, NY.

Dr. Gentile attended medical school at the University of North Texas Health Science Center/Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. While there, she devoted an extra year to train in and teach OMM as a Predoctoral Teaching Fellow.

After medical school, Dr. Gentile completed a Traditional Internship in a Family Practice program at Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg, N.J.  She then attended and graduated from an American Osteopathic Association (A.O.A) accredited Residency in Neuromusculoskeletal and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine at St. Barnabas Hospital in Bronx, N.Y.

St. Barnabas Hospital is a 466 bed, level 1 trauma center.  Residency duties at St. Barnabas included evaluation and treatment of newborns in the nursery, mothers before and after delivery, children on the pediatric wards, medical, surgical and trauma patients in the intensive care unit and on the patient floor as well as the operation of 3 outpatient continuing care clinics.

Dr. Gentile is trained in many different modalities of osteopathic medicine including cranial osteopathy.  She has a special interest in the treatment of women and children.  Dr. Gentile is also dedicated to the integration of standard and alternative medical philosophies.  She has been certified by the American Board of Holistic Medicine and is a member of the American Holistic Medical Association.

With the opening of this practice, Dr. Gentile has fulfilled her dream of practicing Osteopathy in beautiful Colorado.
